Frequently Asked Questions

  • This varies by client and project type! For those planning a large-scale remodel (like a kitchen), we recommend having a design consultation 12-16 weeks in advance. This ensures we have ample time to go through the design cycle, validate needed measurements, and build the cabinetry.

We’re happy to work with you on your timeline, and can endeavor to expedite or phase out timing as the project requires.

We look forward to discussing your project, our process, and timelines with you! Schedule a time to connect here.

  • We welcome projects of any size! Whether you’re converting a hallway closet into more functional built-in storage cabinet, are ready to upgrade your bathroom vanity, or are embarking on a multi-room remodel. We’re excited to learn more about your project and how we can partner with you to make your dreams a reality.

Reach out today to schedule a call or in-person consultation.

  • We encourage you to think about three main things before we meet:

    1. What are your goals with the space? For example, more storage, better workflow, a space that better reflects your style, or all of the above. Sending along 3-5 inspiration photos ahead of the consultation can be a great way to kick off the conversation. We’ll request pictures of the existing space and inspiration photos to be sent over once we confirm your initial appointment.

    2. What is your budget? We have many levers to pull to add onto your design or to scale things back based on your budgetary requirements. Having a good sense of budget helps us guide you towards materials, door styles, cabinet sizing, and modifications that will meet you where you’re at.

    3. Measure! Preparing accurate measurements of your space is essential for us to have a productive initial consultation. This is also key for us to provide as accurate an initial bid as possible. Ahead of our meeting we’ll send you clear and easy directions on how to measure your space if you don’t have them handy.

Questions about what a consultation entails or if it’s the right time to schedule? Shoot us a note and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

  • Build lead times for your made-to-order custom cabinetry vary. Current lead times are 8-10 weeks (Winter 2025). Lead times can change based on the volume of cabinetry orders in progress ahead of yours at the time of sign-off and submission, and can also shift based on the size and finish of your cabinetry order. During your consultation and throughout the design process, we will always keep you updated on the current build and delivery schedule, so you can mov forward confidently with SC&D.

  • After our complimentary initial design meeting, we will send you a 3D rendering and a complete bid for the project discussed including all trim, installation hardware, touch up kits, shipping, and tax. Our goal is that you receive our most accurate, all-in pricing, so there are no surprises down the line.

When you decide to move forward with refining your design and ordering cabinetry through Seahurst Cabinetry & Design, the investment schedule is as follows:

    • 10% Deposit of Initial Bid Due At Sign On 100% of this deposit is credited towards your final cabinetry cost, regardless of changes, omissions, or additions made during the design revision process.

    • 50% of Cabinetry Final Design Cost Due at Cabinetry Sign-off and Order

    • 90% of Remaining Balance Due at Cabinet Build Completion & Ship

    • Remaining Balance Due Post-Home Delivery & Inspection

  • We do not! Many clients are undergoing projects that may include structural changes, electric or plumbing updates, and beyond that fall outside our project scope. Therefore, selecting and creating a contractor-client relationship happens outside of our services.

We highly value working with you and your contractor during each step of the process. It is essential that we are in alignment during the design, order, and installation process.

We’re always happy to recommend a contractor or other tradesperson for your project(s) when possible!

  • No! If you have your sights set on new cabinetry for any room in your home, we can design and build it. Common non-kitchen spaces we design include: mudrooms, laundry rooms, pantries, offices, media walls, built-ins, and more!

  • Semi-custom cabinetry is customizable to 1/16” height, width, depth, and built-to-order based on your cabinetry specifications. We’re solving for inches, so no big pieces of filler or fixed cabinet dimensions to hold us back from maximizing your space and functionality.

With over 50 door styles, 150 finishes (+ custom colors), and nearly endless modifications and cabinetry organizational system inserts, semi-custom cabinetry is often plenty custom for most of clients.

Where semi-custom and custom cabinetry differ are on the many, but finite, options for cabinetry materials and finish in semi-custom cabinetry. If you’re seeking something in a hyper-specific material outside of our standard offerings or flush inset cabinetry, our sister company Phinney Ridge Cabinet Co. is the place to go. We would be happy to make that introduction!

  • European frameless cabinets have no frame or extra material around the doors, making them sit flush providing a clean, seamless, near-zero reveal, high-end look.

While modern and sleek in function, they can match any home style by selecting a door style and finish that complements the home and desired design appeal.

Frameless cabinetry maximizes internal storage space, enhancing functionality and storage options, and all hardware, like hinges and glides, are hidden inside, ensuring a clean exterior design.

  • Cabinetry cost varies immensely based on a few key factors:

    1. Door style, finish, and material

    2. Volume and size of cabinetry

    3. Chosen cabinetry construction & internal modifications and additions (like organizational systems, pull-out shelves, etc)

At Seahurst Cabinetry & Design, we pride ourselves on providing the most comprehensive bid possible after our initial design meeting. Upfront and complete pricing is important to us, as we know it is key to your decision-making process. This greatly sets us apart from our competitors, and is important to keep in mind when comparing bids.

We look forward to discussing options with you to increase or decrease overall cabinetry cost while still hitting all (or most!) of your must and plus hopes for your cabinetry project.

  • We work with Western Artisan to source, template, fabricate and install countertops for our clients. This is something we can include in your initial bid, or add on down the line.

We strongly recommend selecting Quartz countertops for their long-lasting, high durability, and low maintenance qualities.

All cabinetry comes undrilled and ready for you to put your special finishing touches on with hardware selections. We are happy to source from Top Knobs who are highly regarded, best in quality and finish, with an amazing selection of styles for your project if desired. They have a fantastic free sample program, so you’re sure to pick the perfect hardware for your space.

Sourcing countertops and hardware through Seahurst Cabinetry & Design is not required to work with us on your cabinetry projects.

  • A few of the many reasons we love quartz: durability, non-staining, no upkeep or treating, consistency in veining allowing for incredible design features like book matched backsplashes or waterfall countertops.

In addition to above, many of our most chosen Quartz countertops are offered on a square foot program. This means you purchase the material you need, without needing to buy large slabs which equal a higher cost for extra material.

We invite you to come into our showroom to see a variety of countertop styles, finishes, and details that may inspire your material selections. Schedule a time to swing by!

  • We are open to working with clients across the greater Seattle area and beyond!
